Le Piano Vache

Came here for Monday evening jazz and loved it! The place was absolutely packed and the music was lively, not what you'd expect for a Monday night coming from the Bay Area.

This isn't a place to come if you want to have background music, this is a spot for actually listening to music. You will be shushed if you're speaking during songs, but the music is so good you won't want to do much talking anyways.

Music starts at 9, but getting a table close to then can be near impossible. We ended up coming in around 6 to make a reservation, then came back closer to 9 and they had a table waiting for us right next to the band. If you can't get a table they do have standing room in the back, and seemed to do their best to pack people in.

If I lived in Paris and hung out in bars, this would be my spot. It's on a cool, little side street and right around the corner from the scene from "Midnight in Paris" when Owen Wilson gets picked up in the old car that takes him into the past.

Place to write disturbing but good novels.

Bohemious, rock'n roll attitude, art students... If that's what you want, go for it!

This place was great there's nice alternative people, friendly bartenders who understand enough english to help you out. Good metal/rock music & atmosphere..Two (!) bars for days when it gets crowded.. the walls are covered in band posters which is very cool. in short: recommended. Only thing is.. i'm not sure they play metal every night so you may want to do a little research.. or just drop by like I did - I loved it. :)

Went to Piano Vache on a Thursday night, and it was a really enjoyable experience. For starters, the crowed was predominately French as opposed to other pubs that I've been to in Paris which are packed with people from all over. I loved the atmosphere and the drinks were reasonably priced (although I switched to beer since the vodka cranberry I ordered at first was kind of small). I would definitely go back!

a short walk from the pantheon, le piano vache is a a quintessential student rock/metal bar. the place is teeming with locals/regulars on the weekend, with its poster-plastered walls and alternative atmosphere providing a much-wanted relief from other tourist-infested places. watch out for random evening-closures (even on weekends) and, perilously steep staircase into the basement toilets. i'd rate in amongst the top bars in paris

just when you thought paris was too sheeky neeky, this is one of the best bars in the latin district that combines youth, kitschiness, and 5EUR pints . . .they play music in the evenings and the people are in and out . .. the decoration is a mix of old music and art posters and old student id photos. i love it and it's located amongst the narrow streets of the latin quater . .. i definitely end up here a lot
