My one friend in New York City and I visited Laliguras. They were so solicitous, I said, we need to come back here. Although my friend and I are eating our way through Jackson Heights, a lifetime project, every now and then we consider repeating an establishment. That is on the basis of how generous they were in spirit: they checked on us, gave us a bit extra, and were friendly to a fault.
We've eaten at a couple of other restaurants offering the same cuisine. I will confess, freely, my ignorance and hope for forgiveness. I aspire to learn more about the cultures that inhabit this most variegated neighborhood within the most diverse borough of the greatest city of contemporary civilization -- and yes, I mean the hyperbole, because the streets are just full of an energy that no matter how much other places exhibit they cannot replicate, because of the sheer heterogeneity that effortlessly fills the locale. Over time, I would like to read enough about the cuisines to recognize what dishes are, their significance, and the different versions available. For now, I will just report on what I ate and enjoyed.
At Laliguras, we split a fried momo. I want to be empathetic that the quality is paramount. It is not enough for folks to be affable. They are producing outstanding fare. I then had the thali, the vegetarian option. I am partial to the dishes that allow sampling (or family style dining). It was filling. The leftovers made for a good breakfast. I have not had the flattened rice much before, maybe once. I am ambivalent. That is simply my own taste, what I grew up with. I ate it. I benefited from the sustenance. I would eat it again if it were part of a dish. I would not look for it. It is too bland and seems merely a filler. Perhaps that is what it is meant to be.
I commend Laliguras to one and all.

Been coming here for years - thalis are always delicious and their momos always hit the spot. The owners are super nice and even offered us a sample of new desserts from a nearby bakery!

Quality of their fish thali has gone down slightly but it's still a legit place to get Nepali food that keeps the simplicity at heart , try it and thank me later.

Update, we just found out that Bikram is now gone, which is likely why the quality of the food has gone down. This is always a bummer, but understandable, still a legit Nepali restaurant.

One of our favorite spots for lunch in the weekend.
We have been frequenting this place for over a year.
MoMo, tali, mango lassi and everything else....
Super duper yummy and most importantly the prices are really good with the amount of foods and taste.
Can't wait to go there again.

To everyone please don't trust this laliguras kitchen staff bcoz they steal few pieces of momos,

if you order more than 1 order of momos in each order they put one piece less n they steal, normally it comes 8 pieces they put 7 pieces

To everyone when u order momos dumplings please please check your order then leave from the restaurant. Don't trust them.

I order 3 momos n In one order of momos dumplings it comes 8 pieces n there was 7 pieces n other was also the same so in 3 order of momos there was 3 pieces missing.

This place is stealing momos pieces. On that they have increased the price $10 of momos n on that also they steal few pieces momos dumplings. Not fair very disappointing.

Worst n they are cheater. Won't buy anything from here. Not fair this laliguras kitchen staff are.

It's definitely a hole in the wall Nepalese restaurant so if you EVER come around Jackson Heights, don't miss this little gem. Been here twice, and it didn't disappoint. The best part was the free refills of all the side dishes. The owner was very nice and patient with us in explaining what some dishes on the menu were, although limited in english. (Only downside the second time here was the chicken and be here was tough...but that's on us for ordering the pan fried chicken)

Place low key slaps. Excellent place to get good authentic food. The plating is on the exotic side. Loved all the food combined, it makes for the perfect taste. Would come here again and order more. The momo's are juicy and good, the food just downright flavorful.

Really wanted to try Nepalese/Himalayan cuisine and found this gem near Roosevelt Ave! A quick 5-7 minute walk from the train station.

They have outdoor seating yay! We ordered Tingmo, steamed beef momo dumplings, and chicken thila with rice. The Tingmo is a steamed bun, great for dipping into curry! The steamed beef momos were delicious! It is their version of a dumpling, but the inside is a bit more crumblier. The Momos were VERY juicy and flavorful. Highly recommend.

Chicken thila with rice was so so flavorful. The curry chicken was spicy but not overwhelming, the lentil soup was refreshing, and the cumin vegetables gave it all a nice balance.

They also replenish your rice & side dishes upon request.

      Would definitely come back!
