There is a very good reason why this pub happens to have Iron Maiden playing on repeat - this was the pub that they played at before they because one of the biggest heavy metal acts of the 80s. Yeah, this is basically the pub that every Iron Maiden fan ends up at when they go to London (though I mustn't be such a huge fan because, well, I didn't realise that this pub existed until recently). Mind you, it isn't the easiest of pubs to get to, but it isn't bad. Hey, they even have some good beer on tap, but yeah, it's the Iron Maiden that attracts me.

Great place to have a beer, especially for Iron Maiden Fans, like myself! The pub was recently reopened from an extensive remodel. And the outside is still undergoing a new facelift. One of the bartenders, Pete, was nice enough to recommend some of the great Robinsons brews, and show off the newly remodeled stage, that was relocated to the downstairs area. I wasn't able to see a show, or eat from the new menu. But I am very interested to visit the next time I am in town!

It's a fairly standard pub and the people behind the bar were friendly and good to chat with while having a pint with a friend of mine who came up to see me. The entertainment wasn't too bad and the Iron Maiden memorabilia was pretty nice to look at.

Since your review in April we have changed things for the better, the Iron Maiden Memorabilia you liked has been revamped and added to, with some unique pieces and some of them signed from early members of Iron Maiden with help from the guys at www.legacyproject.co.uk

I didn't, though.
It's just a standard, run of the mill, city pub. If it wasn't for the Maiden links, nobody would know about it, and it would probably never have survived as long as it has.
There's mentions of Iron Maiden outside, and various assorted memorabilia inside, but I would have thought they could have made more of it than they did. Plus, the TVs were showing MTV Base. Not exactly Maiden-esque, really.
I quickly finished my drink and left. I didn't look back.

Hi Tony,
I know this is an old review but as the NEW owners of the Cart and Horses, we would like to welcome the feedback you have given.
We took over early in 2016 and since then have made complete changes to the way the pub looks and is percieved by Iron Maiden fans. For instance, we have lengthened opening hours and we now open from 12 pm mid-day to make it easier for any fans travelling on a day visit to fit us into their schedule.
We have made links with original Iron Maiden members with the help of www.legacyproject.co.uk and we now have a completely new re-designed Iron Maiden stage area, meaning we have more Iron Maiden memorabilia than ever before and unique pieces too with a lot of them signed by original members, such as Bob Sawyer, Dennis Willcock, Terry Wapram and Doug Sampson.
We also have Live bands playing EVERY Saturday night and some of those bands include the former members listed above - you can check out the details at www.cartandhorses.london/entertainment.html - 2018 dates to be added shortly.
We intend to do more 'Meet and Greets' and photo opportunities as well, with our next event featuring Iron Maiden's third official singer - Paul Di'anno - 29th October 2017

We now stock Trooper and Hallowed beer, Iron Maiden's own brands as well as having new menus including bar snacks, meals and a very popular Sunday Roast dinner.
Understandably, this review is 4 years old but we hope that when you are next in London, you come down to the Cart and Horses and see all the great changes and experience the refreshing difference from your previous visit. And if you time it right, you just may see some of the early Maiden members performing on the stage or sitting at the bar.

Thanks for your review. I know it's 8 years old but as the new owners, we feel it's important to reach out to everyone who has taken the trouble to write about the Cart and Horses in the past. So thank you for supporting us.
We have a new website at www.cartandhorses.london showing all the new things we do so well, including a new Iron Maiden page and a schedule of all the live bands we have booked.
We have a live DJ playing a wide mix of tunes to dance on a Friday night, Open Mic night on a Thursday night and free pool with a drink on a Tuesday night. Clearly some nights are busier than others, especially when a big match is on either SKY sports or BT sports.

Currently a great little place to pop in to have a few pints and watch football. The couple of times I have been there to watch Champions League matches during the week it has been fairly quiet, felt almost like having a bar in one's living room with a few people round. Really useful on those nights when the other pubs further up are jam packed with people watching the footy. Staff friendly, prices not bad.

Love this pub! Always a great atmosphere with good music and selection of bands to dance and sing to. The drink selection is endless and the staff are always friendly. Prices are reasonable which is always a bonus! Great location as well as it's easy to get to and from home. So close to so many public transport links.
Heard they have a good hotel upstairs too which i cant wait to try out after a brilliant night out here.

Thanks for the great review. As the new owners, it's really pleasing to know that we have kept up the tradition of Live music and bands that have served the Cart and Horses so well, in the past.
Our Saturday night slot is booked for the next 15 months with plenty of diverse local bands - some of them even have former members of Iron Maiden playing in them.

Not bad I suppose, the entertainment was good, but I left early after being hassled by an over-zealous security guard insisting I removed my hat for the cameras! I decided not to return out of embarassment and principle. Yes I know it's only a hat, but I have my reasons for wearing one, and if I wanted a dress code and high security I'd go to a night club In future I'll take my money elsewhere.

Hi there,
As the new owners, I can categorically state that anybody, hat or no hat, are welcome at the Cart and Horses.
We took over the running of the establishment in early 2016 and have made several changes. for instances, we do not have security staff unless we have an event going on, and then they are personally vetted by us.
We have a live band every Saturday night and Every Friday night we have a DJ playing a wide mix of music and an open mic night on Thursdays. You can check if your favourite local bands are playing on our new website www.cartandhorses.london/entertainment.html
We would love you to come down and see the new-look Cart and Horses experience, with new menus for restaurant qulaity food, meals bar snacks and our gorgeous Sunday Roast Dinner.
