The Red Lion

Food was good and friendly service. I would recommend the Steak and Ale pie along with the Leek and potato soup.

The Red Lion, situated in Bloxham near Banbury is a great, tradtionally English pub in the heart of the county of Oxfordshire. On our frequent visits, the pub stands out amongst others, primarily for its atmosphere. The pub is small, which I've always found strange for such a big building?!, but intimate and cosy. The staff there are always warm, polite and welcoming. The menu/bar is standard, no local ales offered, which perhaps it falls down on, but generally the standard is high. A tomato juice with tabasco wasn't a problem. The pub has good outside space, with a lawned garden area for the kids and adults in the summer. The village of Bloxham is situated on the main road out to Chipping Norton, the Red Lion however isn't really effected as it is set back from the road by some way. The pub sometimes has a number of youngsters in there, the famous Bloxham public school is located very close by. And there are often a sheepish, posh looking group in the corner!


The Red Lion is a great stop off point for being travelling along this main road, or locals/villagers alike. Yes highly recommended.

The Red Lion in Culworth serves excellent food at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend as one of the best pubs in the Brackley area.
