The first time I went here was when my Drama teacher took us to see a play, but before that assured us that this was the best place to go for a pre-theatre meal. Because we were all still school kids with not much money to spare it seemed really high end and exciting, we were all over the rock garden. I remember having an amazing burger and chips, whilst my friend had ordered just a little steak for the same price- she accidentally only looked at the specials menu. That was quite funny. And the steak was of a pretty measly proportion, and did not come with any sides.

The food was good, setting cool, out door heating a bonus. The waiters were awesome with dealing with us- we managed to set the table cloth alight... Everything would have been good but I can see now that the place is a money trap and that it is over priced. Go there for a treat of for one of their pre-theatre deals. But not during a day out shopping or anything casual like that.

The Rock Garden is right in the heart of Covent Garden and, as such, can get extremely busy with tourists and, therefore, might not appeal to those actually living in the City, which is a shame as their food is actually darn good.

My parents recently descended on London for the weekend with friends. We went here for breakfast. We sat outside with heaters which was nice and the service was exemplary. The actual breakfasts were also very good, the meat etc chargrilled to give a wonderful flavour. Okay it was a bit pricier than other places but we were tired of walking and if you choose to eat in a tourist trap then you have to expect that. Thankfully, everything from the food to the service was of such good quality we didn't feel ripped off at all.

The venue also caters for those wanting a pre-theatre meal out and has a dodgy nightclub attached to it for those that wish to settle in the location.

Rock garden was avery lovely venue where my friend was the assistant manager. Unfortunately in 2010 the owners bowed to corporate pressure and sold up (outrage!) even though the place was always busy, always jumping and had celebrity frequents such as mick jagger.

Rock garden is no longer there, nor is it a restaurant anymore, it is now ...wait for it.....the apple shop BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

The Rock Garden is a bit of a tourist trap in the centre of Covent Garden. Its menu isn't hugely creative and features most of the staples you'd expect from the neighbouring pubs- burgers, a chicken dish, fish and chips and some sort of tomato pasta- at double the price! Walk past this place and it's easy to get sucked in by the pretty seating and candles outside. However, the Rock Garden is really aimed at the pre-theatre crowd with a bit of money to splash around so don't expect your meal here to be cheap.

Nonetheless, I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my meal here. When we first arrived the only tables they had left were outside and although we gave this a good attempt, even the gas warmers wouldn't keep us there. The waitress spotted this and moved us inside as soon as there was a free space. I was very impressed by how quickly she did this and by how little fuss was made.

My Mushroom and Cheese Burger was very tasty, if a bit too huge to try and get my mouth round. My boyfriends Fish and Chips were great too, crispy batter and plenty of tartar sauce. However, with a couple of glasses of wine and service charge added our meal came to £40.00 which I felt was a bit steep for posh pub grub. Knowing that there are a lot of better places nearby I probably wouldn't visit The Rock Garden again although I might recommend it if I knew any tourists looking for al fresco dining.

The Rock Garden is on the corner of Covent Garden, in the stretch that leads back to the Underground station. Nearly always busy, its a great location in sunny weather.

There's tables outside which give a great view of the Piazza where it is possible to people watch whilst enjoying a meal.

Food varies from burgers through salmon and chicken based main courses to a few selections of the day. Straightforward fare with slightly tourist based prices. Outside their special offer times £10 for two courses, expect £25+ a head after drinks etc although in this part of London its really good value for being in the (tourist-ish) scene.

The music in the restaurant can be dance mashups and to some extend a flow across from the adjacent Gardeners' Club which is linked and nowadays has themed DJ sets depending on the day. There's usually a huddle of people outside during the later evening.

And a useful tip is that Rock Garden will take later evening supper bookings (eg 23:30), which is not common across all of Covent Garden.

I booked this for a party of 10 people on one of their Christmas deals in December 2007. The menu was not too bad, and reasonably priced, and so we thought we were in for a good lunch.

On arrival we were shown to our table, which was squashed into a corner, with barely room to get a chair in front of. There was a radiator which the chairs were pushed up against which was on full blast, and the restaurant would n't turn it down when asked. It became unbearable and we started to feel quite ill.

Our orders arrived, and most were wrong, and cold as well. Once that was recitified, our main courses were also cold and a meat dish had been prepared for the vegetarian. She had to wait 30 minutes for a replacement. As soon as we had out our spoons down for desert, they were rudely ushering us out. We opted not to pay service after this meal, and were aggresively questioned on this. I asked to speak to the manager, but s/he refused to see me!

      Will not be revisting.

Great place - some really cool nights - good for cocktails. Covent garden is generally a great area to go out and this should be on your list of places to visit.

The rock garden is situated in londons covent garden and is very nice indeed. The restaurant has seating both inside and outside and i would recommend that you book a table when going there in the evening. It is a very popular place - especially as it has a special offer pre theatre menu for just a tenner for two courses. I think you choose from a limited menu and need to eat by a certain time so i recommend you look at their website for more info or give them a call. Just google them. The décor is bright and fresh and the staff are very pleasant. The menu is diverse from well cooked joints of meet to gourmet burgers which i have to say is delicious. It is reasonably priced and service is good and friendly.
This restaurant also has a club called The Gardeners Club and they usually tell you a way to get in cheaper because you have eaten in the restaurant. just ask the waiter/ess.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant is decorated with a great deal of grandeur, Chandeliers, Gold trims and red carpets, you name it! it looks beautiful and the outdoor seating on a hot summers day is lovely. There is a great variety of food although it is somewhat pricey, my first taste of caviar! not that impressed by that but the ambience and the place itself was great.

Situated on the Piazza in the heart of Covent Garden, this restaurant is a great place to go on a night out in the city. The decor has a luxurious feel to it and this creates an intimate atmosphere, with chilled out house music playing quietly in the background. The food is top quality and there is a wide selection available. A nice place for a date!
