So, it's another IKEA. What else do you really need to know?
The good thing about this one is you can easily get there by public transport from central Hamburg. It cost me EUR2.60 on the S-Bahn from Sternschanze.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Usuário do Qype (Na…)Londres, Reino Unido862681494 de nov. de 2008
The bigger Ikea store in Hamburg. Lovely and amazingly relaxed and helpful staff. Head immediately through the exit to find the 'seconds' area where some real bargains are to be had. Hotdogs are revolting but cheap. The second one of the day leaves you feeling utterly broken. You will leave though, eventually.

Yup- its IKEA, looks and feels like any other IKEA on the globe youve walked into complete with meatballs and Småland.
That being said, I think its the better of the two in Hamburg. For those without cars, its very easy to reach via S-Bahn directly from the city center (stops at Dammtor, Jungfernstieg, Hauptbahnhof) and takes about 20 minutes to get there. From the station its about a 10-15 minute walk over the bridge. Just make sure not to buy more than you can carry- that being said Ive lugged (with help) large bookshelves and taken them back to Dammtor with the S-Bahn if you want to try to save the delivery fees. Just think, if its about the size of a bike, you can probably get it in the S-Bahn.
Also, they are open until 21 h, in case you ever need to make the one-off after work run to pick up that one thing that cant wait for the weekend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Usuário do Qype (Deezo…)Hamburgo, Alemanha371995927 de jun. de 2010

Though I have only been to maybe 2 or 3 different IKEA stores I have to say this is one of the best. It is a bit out of the way so a car is almost a must. There is train and bus service there but you obviously won't be able to carry much with you. I noticed recently as well that they have taxi service going out there which is big plus and will cost around 25 Euro to get back in the city. They recently have changed the upstairs or as I call it the showrooms which is nice. It still would be nice if they had more staff on the floor to help people since there are several products that do not have an isle number and you must go through them to get it purchased. The checkouts are always a mess. They move pretty slow and usually only have about half of them open. The customer service however is good and they usually do not have a problem with stock. The restaurant has recently been updated too. Much more open and cozy.
