My mother and I went to this place and we were extremely excited to try a Lyonnais meal. We enjoyed our meal but felt that the ambiance and the staff lack courtesy. Our waitress was extremely abrupt they were fixing around us at the time and were just dropping chairs and utensils all over the place. They checked upon other tables, not ours really so not sure we would go back but if you want to try a traditional meal for that region sure go there but can't say I'd go back several times.

I was a little harsh on this place. The sausage was almost nauseating in looks, but in retrospect, it was probably very local. The loosely sheathed sausage when cut open was filled with blood vessels (sans sangre) that was repulsive, but I ate it all. The flavor wasn't amazing, but interesting. Definitely not something I need to have again. I definitely loved the white cheese for dessert, though.

Wonderful place with wonderful people! The quenelle covered in lobster sauce was exactly what I was looking for when visiting Lyon. Sausages and salads with a poached egg along with the nice ladies, made this one of my favorite restaurants in France!

Splendid experience there! Be sure to reserve ahead of time. The place is very popular and kind of small. The restaurant is located in a street where majority of restaurants look like tourist trap although some of those like Mounier are absolutely not. Food is awsome, service is on point with a huge family vibe to it and from what I heard this is a typical bouchon. It was hard to pick a bouchon when we were looking for a place and I am glad this one was available, and stood up to its reputation. Good thing about this place, you can come with a group which is not always easy in regular bouchon where locations are usually small. We were a group of five, we started with a communard each (you have to get it, kir au vin rouge), then salad, liver salad, eggs in wine sauce to start. And after that we got boudin noir and quenelle and my god the quenelle was nice. It was like my mother's quenelle! Perfect texture, light and all, perfect sauce, rice and bread to dip in. A pure merveille. Really recommend it. I did not stay for desert but plan was to st Marcellin and then some clafoutis. Looked delicioso.

The Mère Mounier restaurant is with no doubt one of the best place to have lunch or dinner in Lyon. Its genuine traditional atmosphere is unmatchable and its food menu is amazing. And the most amazing part is that it's quite cheap.
So: cheap+good+genuine+in the heart of the city centre.
Go, run, and more importantly book a table!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicholas M.Lyon, França0928 de nov. de 2014
We have been eating here for around 8 years, since we moved to Lyon. Our favorite family restaurant in the city. To be honest the food is nothing special, but it is (incredibly) cheap and cheerful. The owners are delightful and always ready with a joke or two. We always come away from here, having had a great evening. I usually have the tripe, which is excellent. Incredible value for 4 courses.
